Not sure if this is the right sub to ask, but Google seems to think it is. Since both my cancer diagnosis a few years ago and, well, 2020 I've been reaching out and trying things I have never eaten or cooked with before. I've eaten a whole bunch of stuff I never thought I would, ordered ingredients that were unknown to me and dilligently tried to follow recipes to make them tasty. I even found out that despite the foul smell I enjoy Lutefisk!
But I cannot tolerate yuzu in any form. I've always enjoyed Kikkoman's citrus ponzu, so I figured I'd upgrade to a more expensive ponzu sauce, and nearly all of them use yuzu instead of lemon.
It makes me gag. It is the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted, and it lingers. I can't even explain what it does to my palate. Is this like the cilantro thing? Where a subset of the population simply hate it because they have a gene that makes it taste like soap? I don't know what to think. But I cannot eat it whatsoever. I've only had it in an expensive ponzu and a jarred puree, hated both for the reasons mentioned. Am I effed on this ingredient or am I just using it wrong?
The kimchi fridge is built to mimic the conditions of Korean winter when the kimchi is buried underground with higher humidity, less air flow, and lower temperature. If those conditions help to preserve kimchi, does it also help to preserve other fermented food, or is kimchi a special case? If it's other fermented food, will they continue to be fermented at a regular pace like when they're in a conventional fridge?

Former President Donald Trump was very interested in hearing intelligence reports about foreign leaders, particularly regarding their romantic affairs, according to The New York Times.
In its article published on Thursday, the outlet spoke to former Trump-era officials and people responsible for giving him intelligence, who said that he was very interested in reports that had a narrative to them. This included details about how his meetings with other world leaders had gone.
The Times also reported that Trump was eager to hear about the CIA's information on foreign leaders' extramarital affairs. According to the outlet's interviewees, Trump's interest stemmed from the amusement he derived from the reports he heard rather than his desire to build up potential blackmail material.
"He is all about leverage," Sue Gordon, a former principal deputy director of national intelligence, told The Times. "It is not my experience that he has an ideologically held view about anything. It's all about what he can use as leverage in this moment."
A representative at Trump's post-presidential press office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.
The Times' report came following a Rolling Stone article published this week that revealed how Trump had been bragging to his aides about having dirt on French President Emmanuel Macron's sex life.
It is unclear if Trump ever possessed compromising information on Macron. However, a file labeled "info re: President of France" was among the documents found by the FBI during its raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence earlier this month.
The FBI is now investigating whether Trump broke three federal laws, including the Espionage Act, by keeping classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. During its August 8 raid, the agency seized 11 sets of classified documents from the property. Per The Washington Post, some files were marked top secret and concerned nuclear weapons.
