Regarding marinades (ajitsuke tamago in particular), can the marinade be reused?

I was looking at this recipe https://www.seriouseats.com/ajitsuke-tamago-japanese-marinated-soft-boiled-egg-recipe

and at the end it says to discard the marinade which seems like a waste to me. What happens if the marinade is reused for another batch of soft boiled eggs?
