My partner and I were at a restaurant tonight and ordered two dishes (prawns and chicken) that had a spice on it that smelled, to us, like a pet store/pet food/something pet-related. The waitress said it must be piri piri (the spice, not the sauce) but this didn’t seem right to us. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? I’ve never smelled anything like it in my life and I would consider myself a somewhat adventurous eater.
