Trying to make toasted chili flakes (prik bon) - burnt them on the stove and now everybody in my apt is choking and dying. Any good recommendations to alleviate this?

Was trying to toast some red chili flakes, but started prepping other ingredients and completely forgot about them on the stove. I turned off the heat and threw the burnt peppers out with the trash outside, but the particles are just all over the place now. I've pretty much lightly pepper-sprayed everyone in the apartment, and I don't really know any good ideas to make this better besides turning on the fan and opening all the windows. Any and all suggestions are welcome!
