Would it work fry up just plain sausage casing and make a crispy snack?

when meat is inside, it crisps up and the ends look so crunchy. so, if you added a bit of starch or something just to ensure it wasn't too wet before frying, could you make a crispy snack out of just the casing without filling inside? :)

or would it just simply not work
