What's my Dutch oven lid knob made of?

Hey y'all. I have a Lodge Color Dutch oven. Got it 11 years ago. I mostly use it on stove top but I want to branch out to the oven. The knob is black, doesn't heat up much, and looks like plastic. I was going to swap it out for a stainless steel replacement, but as I have been dinging it with a screwdriver, it sounds like metal. Its harder than I realized too (yes, I use it a lot but never think about the knob). Yet they sell replacement knobs in steel. Is this a treated metal knob that is safe for the oven, or should I switch it with the steel one?

I feel dumb having to ask this question, so please be gentle.
