Are regular eggs safe to use in meringue?

I'm not able to find a clear answer for this.

I want to make meringue, but I'm kind of worried because I read the eggs aren't fully cooked in meringues.

Is it risky to use normal grocer store eggs? I'm in the US, so I don't think the eggs are pasteurized.
