Reusing pickling brine

I know some people toss more veggies in the brine and let it sit, but I see it’s advisable to not repeat too often.

Is this just tossing new veggies into the cold brine, or bringing it to a boil again and then brining?

If cold, is it more advantageous to boil and then resubmerge?

Is there a reason to not continue adding more and more to the brine, other than dilution?
