President Joe Biden says it "remains to be seen" if he will make another run for the presidency in 2024.
Speaking to CBS' Scott Pelley in a 60 Minutes interview that aired on Sunday, Biden said a "whole range of things come into play" regarding a potential presidential run in 2024. Pelley asked Biden if he was committed to a 2024 run, or if "certain conditions" would factor into that decision.
In response, Biden said it was "much too early" to make that call, adding that he was a "great respecter of fate."
"And so, what I'm doing is I'm doing my job. I'm gonna do that job," he said. "And within the time frame that makes sense after this next election cycle here, going into next year, make a judgment on what to do."
Pelley pressed Biden on the topic, asking whether he'd actually made up his mind yet.
"My intention, as I said to begin with, is that I would run again. But it's just an intention," Biden said. "But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen."
In December, Biden said he would run again as long as he remains in good health. The White House, too, has maintained that Biden currently plans on running.
If Biden — who is approaching 80 — were to run and win, he would become the US' oldest sitting president, breaking his own record.
