Does naturally occurring pectin (apples) act as a demulcent (anti inflammatory/irritation)?

Throat lozenges use pectin as a demulcent and I'm wondering if I should just buy apple cider (which also has it's fair share of problems) instead of something like halls fruit breezers. Part of me thinks the acid will also irritate my already sore throat as well but I'd at least be getting more nutrients that way.

Also fuck being sick. Everything tastes like shit now and I'm miserable.
