I've got into an argument with my boss about the nomenclature involving sauces, I said that the term "Daughter sauce" was an acceptable term. She countered by saying that I couldn't find any use of the term 'Daughter Sauce" in any culinary textbook, I looked through a few of them and couldn't find anything. However the term is mentioned a substantial amount of times on the internet. Does anyone know where the term was first mentioned in a publication? Obviously the term "Mother Sauce" is mentioned in most textbooks but I can't find the term "Daughter Sauce" only "small," "derivative" or "secondary." I know I'm right I just can't seem to find proof, please someone help me out.
