Improving prepared foods

I mainly cook on weekends. During weekdays, I rely on quickly prepared meals that often involve commercially prepared foods such as canned soup.

That gets boring, of course, so I'm looking for suggestions on kicking things up a notch.

For instance, I add a spoonful or two of reserved bacon grease to canned bean and ham soup, or I'll add a couple of slices of American cheese or some shredded cheese to boxed Mac and Cheese, left over shredded chicken to a ramen noodle, you get the idea.

What are some things you do to make a meal of convenience taste better and, perhaps, be a little more nutritional?
