Is the Dhungar Method (charcoal-smoking food in a pot) safe to do inside my house?

the technique: https://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/dhungar-method-smoky-ghee-article#:~:text=The%20dhungar%20method%20is%20a,most%20commonly%20a%20lidded%20pot

This is the recipe I want to make (also shows pictures of the dhungar method): https://www.vegrecipesofindia.com/dal-makhani-restaurant-style-recipe/

I just learned about this: you take a steel bowl, heat a piece of charcoal and put it in the bowl, set it on cooked food that's in a dutch oven, close the lid and let it smoke for a couple minutes.

I heard that charcoal smoke is very unhealthy to have inside so I'm just wondering if this method (which only uses one piece of charcoal) would be ok to do inside an apartment.

Also, what would be the best way to dispose of the charcoal after?
