shallow soup pot surprise

I ordered a 6qt. "ultimate soup pot" online from a reputable brand, and I'm really surprised by its dimensions.

The dimensions are: 15.3 x 11.4 x 4.9 inches. The top 3/4 inch or so is a curved lip.

Compared to my other cookware, it looks incredibly short - vaguely taller than a straight-side saute pan that I have. I feel like I'd be spilling soup just looking at it. I have a 4qt "saucepan" from the same brand that is 7.5 inches tall, which I love. I was hoping for a scaled up version of this.

What gives? I feel like it's not for me, but maybe I need to expand my techniques? Are there any advantages to having a really short pot when making soup? All I can think of is that it'd be nice for sautéing or browning - plenty of space and ease of evaporation.
