Hi, I live on the road. I only have an instant pot and a small fridge. I don't know a lot about food but I know the kind of ingredients I want and the kinds of flavors I like. I'm hoping that given this information people here might be able to suggest some great things to make?
Philosophically I'm looking for in order of importance:
- high fiber
- high protein
- low grains, processed carbs, added starches
- high variety of ingredients
- tastes good enough that I don't hate my life but doesn't have to be great
- lowish effort
- lowish cost
- Meal prep
Here are things I like, by category and sorted more or less in order of preference:
flavorings:
- salt
- cumin
- curry flavors
- coconut
- cinnamon
- lime (lemon is almost as good, prefer citrus sour over vinegar sour)
- tarragon
- clove
- sage
- garlic (especially if roasted)
- black pepper
- chinese 5 spice
Meat:
- chicken
- salmon
- turkey
- ground beef
- shrimp
- other shellfish
- pork
- other fish
Veggies:
- onions (prefer cooked),
- Spinach,
- green beans (especially roasted),
- arugula,
- sweet potatoes,
- avocado,
- summer squash,
- lentils,
- other beans,
- tomatoes,
- sweet peppers (cooked),
- broccoli,
- carrots,
- cabbages and other brassicas.
I do not like:
- Mushrooms,
- anything like anise or licorice,
- melons except for watermelon
- cilantro
- good steak,
- any grains,
- any pasta
- oranges
The do not likes are not a deal breaker unless leaving them out or cutting the quantity a lot would ruin the meal.
Spicy stuff like hot peppers or horseradish or mustard are fine but not really wanted. likewise if I didn't list something I am probably ok with it.
