It's well known that it is difficult to get top quality beef if you are a not a restaurant, but can the same thing be said about chicken?

I feel that any average grocery store has very good chicken if it's fresh and prepared well, compared to the chicken I've had in fine dining restaurants. Or maybe my tastes are not refined enough! Thoughts?
