Quick Thawing Shrimp

The bags always say Do Not Force Thaw Under Running Water. Is there any reason? I just want a handful to put in some Laska instant coconut noodles so I'm doing it. I never plan ahead because no one else in the house eats shrimp. But I want to have some for once.
