What preservatives should I consider for pH 8 food?

I need a preservative for a food item (slurry) which is basic (pH roughly 8)

Any suggestions for preservatives I can explore which are active in the 7.5-8.5 pH range?

Been trying google, but the results I'm getting are basically talking about things that have nothing to do with what I am looking for.

The other things I've tried were using Citric Acid to reduce the pH to the active range of the preservatives I'm familiar with. Problem is, this very negatively affects flavour.
