Can't tell if my atomizer is working

Just bought the Jeffrey Morgenthaler Triomphe Atomizer so I could spray liquid smoke evenly on meat. It's a pretty fine mist but it sprays a lot of larger droplets. Is it working as intended? I was hoping it would just be a super fine mist, like the name atomizer would imply. If that is how it works, is there something else I can try that does what I'm looking for? Thanks
