Tips to be comfortable with basic knifes skills ?

I am really struggling with finding a comfortable and safe way to chop vegetables with my almost nail-less fingers, I do not have any grip at all per say, and even when my nails were grown it didnt felt comfortable. My dad is a chef so I have tried with a lot of knifes, I am also looking at techniques on Youtube, It's hard to recreate as I do not understand all the movements. Fellow neurodiv cooks hello !

Everytime I try those techniques ( claw etc ) I either cut myself or my knuckles ( and I do not take the blade higher than my knuckle which shouldnt happen ? ) I want to be able to be safe and fast while chopping my elements, thank a lot everyone !
