I made cinnamon rolls yesterday and I used yeast from a packet, wasn’t sure how old it was but figured it was okay since it wasn’t opened. mixed it with warm milk. Originally the milk was too hot so I let it cool off before I added the yeast and let it sit for 5 mins before adding it to the dry ingredients.
After leaving the dough for a collective 2 hours, it hadn’t risen as much as other times I’ve made cinnamon rolls. When I baked it it wasn’t fluffy at all. What went wrong? Did the yeast go bad? How long does it stay good for? Was my milk I mixed it with too hot/cold? I made sure it wasn’t too hot that I couldn’t dip a finger in. There were a few bubbles but not much. Or maybe I over-kneaded the dough? Is that a thing? Help!!!
