Legit Saffron - Where to find?

I was at the store, saw some saffron not priced too high, and bought it. I'd never bought any before, but it was $5 for a small amount. The brand is Badia, which isn't what I'd usually assume to be selling Spanish Saffron. Regardless, now that I read about all these "fakes", I'm paranoid my saffron isn't real. It seems to my inexpert eye to pass all these tests I see online (cold water, floating, etc), but I was wondering if anyone knew if it was legit. It does have a bitter taste when just tasting the thread with a honey-hay like smell. Its tea tastes like the smell. It isn't bad at all. It maintains its color mostly, I think, and the tea is a golden hue, but not orange or red. I figure it's probably real but not the best quality. Anyone know of any professional reviews?

Aside from that, where can I be sure to buy generally decent, legit saffron? You know, stuff I could put in rice occasionally or something, nothing to impress a Mughal emperor. Would my likely low-grade Badia saffron suffice (assuming it is real stuff)?
