my pineapple fried rice tastes like garbage

I tried making vegan pineapple fried rice twice with different ingredients today and both ended up tasting like wet rotting garbage (I'm not even exaggerating, my roommate even smelled it and said it smelled like the bin). How do I keep messing it up?? It doesn't taste even close to what you get in a restaurant.

I first sauteed a small onion in a little over 2 tbsp sunflower oil until it was translucent and slightly caramelized. Then I added a small handful each of chopped carrot, beans and broccoli and sauteed them till they were tender. Then I added the pineapple and sauteed it till it was slightly cooked and then added the rice, some fried tofu, and seasonings (curry powder, soy sauce, sugar). How did it end up tasting so awful??!?!? I tasted all the ingredients on their own raw and nothing was old or rotten. I even tried making it again with curry paste which I sauteed with the onions till it released oil. Help??
