A guest gave me a store-bought, bone-in, smoked brown sugar ham. I really dislike ham in every preparation I've ever had-- it tastes like salty plastic to me and I find the flabby, homogenous texture very unpleasant (even with paired with pineapple, or finely cubed, etc...).
Knowing that it's an entirely different cut of meat, do I have any shot of transforming this ham into something like carnitas or pork bulgogi or char siu or pulled pork or jamon iberico? If so, what would be the best course of action in doing so? Open to all ideas.
Thanks!
