Using a cheese knife

Hi,

I recently bought a knife set which includes a cheese knife (with the two pointy tips at the end for picking up cheese). If I hold the knife in my right hand, the right edge of the blade is nearly vertical, but the left is slightly slanted, so the knife is not symmetric. This makes it hard for me to cut even slices, since the knife pushes in one direction. Cutting a thin slice is impossible since I'm right handed and the knife is pushed to the edge of the cheese during the cut. Is this normal, or how am I supposed to use the knife properly?
