To freeze or not to freeze

Over the years, I've been throwing stuff in the freezer to squeeze the shelf life from bread, avocados, kale, ginger and other items. I do a bit of traveling for work and I hate coming back home to throw stuff away inside the fridge. I've got a half carton of heavy cream and I could portion it out in my spare ice cube tray. Would that be safe? Is there any perishable items I should avoid from freezing? And what do you guys often freeze?
